Job summary

Gamuda Australia is seeking a seasoned procurement leader to manage procurement for a major infrastructure project, reporting to the Commercial Director and collaborating with project, commercial, engineering and construction teams.

You will develop procurement strategies, lead sourcing, tendering, negotiations and supplier engagement, ensuring alignment with milestones, cost, quality and programme requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead market engagement and tender processes, including documentation, supplier engagements, evaluations and award recommendations.
• Establish and manage project supply chains, identifying and mobilising key suppliers and subcontractors.
• Collaborate with Commercial, Engineering, Construction and Project Controls to identify procurement opportunities and manage interfaces.

About the role

Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will lead the procurement function for a major infrastructure project, managing procurement activities from project mobilisation through to delivery and close-out. Working closely with the project, commercial, engineering and construction teams, you will develop and deliver procurement strategies that support project milestones, manage supply chain risk and achieve cost, quality and programme outcomes.

Specific activities will include:

• Develop and implement project procurement strategies aligned with project scope, programme, budget and delivery requirements.
• Lead end-to-end procurement activities including sourcing, tendering, evaluation, negotiation and award of materials, equipment, services and subcontract packages.
• Develop procurement schedules and ensure critical procurement activities are aligned with key project milestones and construction requirements.
• Lead market engagement and tender processes, including preparation of procurement documentation, supplier engagement, commercial evaluations and recommendations for award.
• Establish and manage project supply chains, ensuring key suppliers and subcontractors are identified, engaged and mobilised in line with project requirements.
• Work closely with the Commercial, Engineering, Construction and Project Controls teams to identify procurement opportunities, manage interfaces and support successful project delivery.
• Manage and develop relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors, monitoring performance against cost, quality, programme and contractual requirements.
• Lead commercial negotiations to achieve competitive pricing and favourable contractual outcomes while managing project risk.
• Monitor procurement budgets, commitments, forecasts and cost-saving opportunities, providing regular reporting to the Project Leadership Team.
• Identify and mitigate procurement and supply chain risks, including long-lead items, market capacity, supplier performance and potential impacts to project programme.
• Lead, mentor and develop the project procurement team, ensuring effective delivery and strong collaboration across the project.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with project governance, contractual requirements, company policies and relevant legislation.
• Support local content, sustainability and social procurement objectives while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, cost and programme.
