• 1-4 years proven experience as a fund accountant, ideally in private equity, hedge funds or similar funds.
• Professional certification (CPA or ACCA) is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of fund accounting, NAV calculations and IFRS standards.
• Proficiency with accounting software and fund accounting platforms.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain fund accounting records, including general ledger entries and reconciliations.
• Calculate and report NAV for private equity funds per documentation and standards.
• Manage capital calls and distributions to investors, ensuring timely processing.
• Reconcile bank, investment, and third-party accounts regularly.
• Prepare month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial statements for stakeholders.
• Assist with investor reports and ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Support fund audit preparation and coordinate with external auditors.
• Monitor fund performance metrics and assist with reporting.
• Maintain fund accounting policies and procedures documentation.
• Provide financial data and analysis to investment teams as needed.

We are seeking a Private Equity Fund Accountant to join our clients dynamic team in Sydney . This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in ensuring the accurate financial management and reporting of private equity funds.

As a Private Equity Fund Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining the financial integrity of fund operations, supporting investment teams, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This role offers the opportunity to work with sophisticated financial instruments and contribute meaningfully to the success of investment portfolios.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing and maintaining accurate fund accounting records, including general ledger entries, journal entries and reconciliations
• Calculating and reporting net asset values (NAV) for private equity funds in accordance with fund documentation and accounting standards
• Managing capital calls and distributions to fund investors, ensuring timely and accurate processing
• Reconciling bank accounts, investment accounts and third-party holdings on a regular basis
• Preparing month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial statements and reports for fund stakeholders
• Supporting the preparation of investor reports and ensuring all financial information is accurate and compliant
• Assisting with fund audit preparation and coordinating with external auditors
• Monitoring fund performance metrics and assisting with performance reporting
• Maintaining fund accounting policies and procedures documentation
• Supporting investment teams with financial data and analysis as required

What we’re looking for

• 1-4 years Proven experience working as a fund accountant, ideally within private equity, hedge funds or similar investment funds
• A qualification in accounting, finance or a related discipline, with relevant professional certification (such as CPA or ACCA) being highly desirable
• Strong understanding of fund accounting principles, NAV calculations and IFRS standards
• Proficiency with accounting software and financial systems; experience with fund accounting platforms is a significant advantage
• Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills with the ability to manage complex financial data
• Solid knowledge of investment fund operations, fund structures and investor reporting requirements
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with investment teams, investors and external stakeholders
• Ability to work independently whilst being part of a collaborative team environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial modelling tools
