Job summary

Brightscope HR in Melbourne's north (Heidelberg West) is recruiting a Printer Assistant for a permanent, full-time role in a modern packaging facility. You will assist setup and operation of flexographic presses, support ink preparation, colour management and ensure safety and accuracy on production lines.

Responsibilities

• Assist setup and operation of flexographic printing presses to production schedules.
• Support ink preparation, mixing, and colour management.
• Assist with print registration, impression, and colour consistency monitoring.
• Identify and report print defects to the lead printer.
• Support press maintenance, cleaning, and changeovers.
• Safe handling and palletising of finished product.
• Completing production and quality documentation.
• Learning flexographic printing operations through hands-on experience.

Join an established Australian flexible packaging manufacturer as a Printer Assistant. Our client operates a modern production facility in Melbourne's north, specialising in extrusion and flexographic printing across polyethylene films, delivering custom packaging solutions to major clients across Australia. This is a permanent, full‑time role working a day shift in a hands‑on, technology‑focused production environment where print quality and safety are paramount.

About this opportunity:

What you'll be doing:

• Assisting setup and operation of flexographic printing presses to production schedules
• Supporting ink preparation, mixing, and colour management

• Supporting press maintenance, cleaning, and changeovers
• Safe handling and palletising of finished product

• Learning flexographic printing operations through hands‑on experience

To be considered for this role:

• Willingness to learn and develop trade skills in flexographic printing
• Any relevant manufacturing, printing, or production experience is a bonus (but not essential)
• Machine operation experience is advantageous
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn technical processes
• Capable of manual handling tasks and palletising
• Strong attention to detail with genuine commitment to safety
• Reliable, punctual, and eager to contribute to a team
