Velflex Imports is seeking a Print Production Operator/Assistant for our Brendale production team. This hands-on role involves working with automatic screen-printing lines to produce custom heat transfers, with comprehensive on-the-job training.

Join Velflex as a Print Production Operator / Assistant

Velflex is Australia's heat transfer leader. For 20 years, we've helped apparel decorators, brands, schools, sports teams and businesses across Australia bring garments to life with custom heat transfers, heat presses, vinyl, DTF equipment, consumables and expert education.

We're growing and looking for Print Production Operators / Assistants to join our Brendale production team.

This is a hands-on role working with our automatic screen-printing lines to produce custom heat transfers. Our process sits somewhere between traditional printing and traditional screen printing, so full training will be provided by our experienced shift supervisors.

Print production experience is preferred, but not essential. Many of our current print team joined Velflex with no print experience and developed their skills on the job.

What you'll be doing

You'll work across screen making, print assisting and printing, with the opportunity to develop into a fully trained printer over time.

Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:

• Operating and assisting on automatic screen-printing lines

• Preparing screens, inks, glue powder and materials for production

• Assisting with job set-up and machine changeovers

• Mixing inks to meet job requirements

• Monitoring print quality throughout production

• Checking finished transfers for consistency, accuracy and defects

• Handling print chemicals safely, with PPE provided

• Keeping jobs moving to meet production deadlines

• Cleaning and maintaining equipment and work areas

• Working closely with screen makers, print assistants, printers and shift supervisors

• Following safety, quality and production processes

What we're looking for

You don't need to come from the print industry, but you do need to be practical, reliable and willing to learn.

Experience in print production, screen printing, manufacturing, warehouse operations, machine operation, trade assistant work, apparel production or other hands-on technical roles would be helpful, but it is not essential.

What to expect

This is a physical, hands-on production role. You'll be standing for most of the day, working with machinery, inks, screens, glue powder and custom transfer orders.

The heaviest regular lifting is generally 20 kg glue powder bags, usually handled with another team member. You'll also be working with print chemicals, and all required PPE will be provided.

Applicants with no print experience will start as print assistants while training, with the goal of developing into fully trained printers once they are ready.

Shifts available

We currently run two production shifts:

• AM shift: 6:00am-2:00pm

• PM shift: 11:30am-9:00pm (Mon-Thur)

We are looking for team members across both shifts.
