About the Role

Are you a Chartered Structural Engineer with deep telecommunications infrastructure experience and a passion for leading high-performing engineering teams? At Service Stream, we're looking for a seasoned technical leader to drive our Wireless Structural Engineering function nationally. This is an opportunity to shape structural engineering strategy, mentor experienced professionals, and provide expert oversight on some of Australia's most critical telecommunications infrastructure projects.

As the Principal Structural Engineering Manager (SME), you'll lead a team of structural engineers responsible for the design, assessment and certification of telecommunications infrastructure, including towers, monopoles, rooftop installations and associated support structures. You'll be the technical authority for complex engineering matters while ensuring exceptional service delivery, quality assurance, safety in design and regulatory compliance. This role is ideal for someone who is equally comfortable reviewing a complex existing building structures and tower structures strengthening assessment, signing structural certifications, mentoring engineers, and engaging directly with clients and stakeholders.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead and mentor a national structural engineering team
• Oversee engineering resourcing, workload management and technical capability development
• Review, verify and approve structural designs, assessments and certifications
• Act as the escalation point for complex engineering and site-related challenges
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and engineering excellence
• Maintain compliance with NCC requirements, Australian Standards, telecommunications industry regulations and Safety in Design principles
• Manage professional registration, chartership and certification requirements across the team
• Support project delivery teams with expert structural advice throughout the project lifecycle
• Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders nationally
• Champion quality assurance, professional standards and technical governance across the Wireless business

What We're Looking For

You’ll be recognised within the industry as a trusted structural engineering professional and leader who understands the unique demands of telecommunications infrastructure.

• Essential experience: 15+ years' experience in structural engineering design, assessment and certification of telecommunications structures
• Extensive experience with towers, rooftop installations, equipment support structures and structural strengthening solutions
• Minimum 5 years leading and developing engineering teams
• Strong consulting or professional services background
• Detailed knowledge of Australian Standards, NCC requirements, structural certification processes and state-based registration obligations
• Demonstrated experience managing engineering risk, compliance and quality frameworks
• Proven ability to resolve complex technical and project delivery challenges
• Qualifications: Degree in Structural Engineering
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng)
• Professional engineering registration recognised within Australian states and territories
• Eligibility to certify and sign off structural engineering outcomes where required
