Sestra People is seeking an experienced Principal Full Stack Engineer for a key cient.This is a contract position that offers the opportunity to lead technical initiatives across the full software development stack. As Principal Full Stack Engineer, you will take ownership of complex architectural decisions and drive innovation across our technology platform. This role requires expertise in Next.js, Node.js, DevOps practices, and AWS infrastructure, positioning you as a key technical leader within our organisation.

Key responsibilities

Design and implement scalable full stack solutions using Next.js for front-end development and Node.js for backend services

Lead architectural decisions and establish best practices for cloud infrastructure on AWS, including infrastructure-as-code and DevOps automation

Oversee deployment pipelines, CI/CD implementations, and containerisation strategies using Docker and orchestration platforms

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements, deliver solutions on schedule, and ensure code quality standards are met

Manage cloud infrastructure costs, optimise performance, and ensure security compliance across AWS services and applications

What we're looking for

10+ years of software development experience with substantial expertise in full stack engineering and architecture

Advanced proficiency with Next.js and React, demonstrating deep knowledge of modern front-end frameworks and best practices

Strong expertise in Node.js backend development, including API design, server-side rendering, and asynchronous programming patterns

Extensive hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, CloudFront, and other core infrastructure components

Demonstrated DevOps capabilities including CI/CD pipeline design, containerisation with Docker, and infrastructure automation
