Job summary

City of Mitcham in Adelaide seeks a Principal Civil Engineer to lead and deliver capital works across roads, stormwater, footpaths, traffic, carparks, bridges and lighting. You will drive design and delivery, mentor engineers, and ensure sustainable, water-sensitive initiatives are integrated into council projects.

The role requires a tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, proven experience with complex infrastructure, and strong communication with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• To be successful, you will hold tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience delivering complex civil infrastructure projects is essential.
• Experience with development applications and land division processes is desirable.
• Mentoring engineers and guiding teams is expected.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills are required.
• White Card is required; Workzone Traffic Management is desirable.

The Role

Working within the Design and Delivery Team, you will be responsible for the leadership, management, collaboration and delivery of capital works programs across roads, stormwater, footpaths, traffic, carparks, bridges and lighting. You will be responsible for providing collaborative leadership to scope and incorporate sustainable and water sensitive initiatives into Council’s business as usual design and delivery of the capital works program, as well as providing mentorship to other engineers within the Design & Delivery Team.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with demonstrated experience delivering complex civil infrastructure projects.
• Experience in the principles and practice of innovative design and construction across multiple areas.
• Experience in development application and land division processes and reviews for engineering referrals.
• Experience in mentoring engineers.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• White Card.
• Workzone Traffic Management (desirable).
