Job summary

a’Mare Sydney is seeking experienced Sommeliers and Wine Waiters to join our award-winning team. This is a rare opportunity to work in one of Sydney’s most prestigious restaurants, renowned for its luxury Italian dining, impeccable service, and extensive wine program.

The role will be casual to start with. Full time offered to the right candidate, with $79,000–$85,000 annualised salary, generous tips and service charge pool, and strong work/life balance within Maestro Hospitality.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of wine and food pairing, particularly Italian, French and Australian wines.
• Excellent spoken English and communication skills.
• Hospitality qualification or 1–3 years’ sommelier or wine-focused experience.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a sommelier or wine-focused role.

Responsibilities

• Recommend and serve wines using appropriate glassware and service techniques.
• Provide confident and knowledgeable food and wine pairing advice.
• Engage guests with a warm, professional and educational approach to wine.
• Collaborate with the Head Sommelier on stock control and wastage reporting.
• Share wine knowledge with the front-of-house team to elevate service standards.
• Maintain exceptional presentation and service throughout each shift.
