Job summary

Northside Community Service in North Canberra is seeking an inspiring Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) and Preschool Team Leader to lead our Preschool room and shape an exceptional learning experience for children, families and educators.

This leadership position offers ownership of the room, opportunities to mentor a passionate team, influence educational practice and create a preschool environment where children thrive through play, belonging and meaningful learning.

Qualifications

• Approved Early Childhood Teaching qualification (or regulatory equivalent)
• Strong knowledge of EYLF, NQF and NQS
• Experience leading curriculum and pedagogical practice
• Ability to mentor, coach and inspire educators
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Commitment to child safety, inclusion and belonging
• Strong organisational and leadership capabilities
• Creativity, initiative and continuous improvement mindset

Responsibilities

• Lead the educational and day-to-day operation of the Preschool room
• Lead a high-quality preschool program aligned with EYLF
• Create engaging learning experiences reflecting children's interests
• Support children's confidence, independence and school readiness
• Mentor and support a team of educators
• Foster partnerships with families and community
• Drive reflective practice, curriculum planning and documentation
• Collaborate with Centre Leadership Team
• Promote child safety and belonging
• Help create a preschool environment educators and families are proud of
