Job summary

Booze & Barrels is seeking an experienced Retail Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation, sales performance and customer service across our premium beverage store. You will lead staff, manage stock, ensure compliant and engaging product presentation, and drive profitability in a busy retail environment.

The role focuses on inventory control, supplier relationships, and implementing promotional campaigns while maintaining high standards of service and regulatory compliance, including liquor

Qualifications

• Previous experience managing a retail store or similar customer-focused operation.
• Experience within liquor/beverage or specialty retail preferred.
• Strong understanding of sales management, stock control, merchandising and retail operations.
• Experience supervising employees and managing staff performance.
• Current Responsible Service of Alcohol certification, or willingness to obtain it.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organise and manage the daily operations of the retail business.
• Develop and implement strategies to achieve sales, profitability and customer service targets.
• Monitor sales performance, operating costs and profit margins, and prepare regular performance reports.
• Manage stock levels, purchasing, product selection, pricing and supplier relationships.
• Coordinate the receipt, storage and presentation of alcoholic beverages and retail merchandise.
• Review customer demand and sales trends to determine the appropriate product range and inventory levels.
• Plan and implement promotional activities, seasonal campaigns and in-store displays.
• Oversee online sales, digital transactions and order fulfilment through the company’s eCommerce platforms.
• Recruit, train, supervise and support retail employees.
• Prepare staff rosters, allocate duties and monitor individual and team performance.
• Establish and maintain high standards of customer service, product knowledge and complaint resolution.
• Ensure accurate processing of sales, refunds, cash handling and daily financial reconciliations.
• Maintain inventory records and investigate stock discrepancies, damage or loss.
• Ensure compliance with liquor licensing requirements, responsible service obligations, workplace health and safety standards and other applicable regulations.
• Work collaboratively with suppliers, distributors, customers and business partners.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, customer engagement and business growth.
