Job summary

St Vincent’s Private Hospital Sydney invites applications for a Part-Time Pre Operative Nurse. You will coordinate and deliver preoperative care, ensuring patients are clinically prepared and informed, while supporting efficient theatre operations and a positive patient experience.

The role requires valid AHPRA registration, a nursing degree, and experience in anaesthesia/recovery. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in on-call duties.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with current AHPRA registration.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• Experience in anaesthetic and/or recovery preferred.
• Commitment to patient-centered care.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to be on call.
• Knowledge of Health Department guidelines, WHS and infection control.

Responsibilities

• Admitting patients on the day of their procedure.
• Completing pre-operative assessments and health checks.
• Confirming medical history, medications, allergies and fasting status.
• Ensuring consent forms and documentation are complete.
• Taking observations (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, etc.).
• Preparing patients for surgery, including pre-operative medications and site checks.
• Providing information and reassurance to patients and families.
• Liaising with surgeons, anaesthetists, theatre staff and ward nurses.
• Coordinating patient flow to ensure theatre lists run efficiently.

About your role:

About You:

• Valid registration with AHPRA.


• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.


• Previous Anaesthetic and/or Recovery experience.


• Demonstrate a commitment to providing patient centered care.


• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.


• Willingness to do call.


• Sound knowledge of Department of Health Guidelines and Regulations, Workplace Health and Safety, Infection Control and their impact on the delivery of care.
