Job summary

Greencross Vets Chatswood is seeking an experienced Practice Manager to lead our busy clinic and drive operational excellence. You will manage a high-performing team, support exceptional patient care, and partner with the Veterinary Director to shape clinic success.

This role balances people leadership, client experience, team development, and business operations in a supportive, well-established hospital within a modern, Petbarn-adjacent setting in Chatswood.

Qualifications

  • Experience in veterinary leadership roles such as Practice Manager or Head Veterinary Nurse.
  • Strong leadership, coaching and people-management skills.
  • Experience working in the veterinary industry is highly preferred.
  • Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and support veterinary nurses, receptionists and support staff.
  • Drive a positive, engaged and high-performing clinic culture.
  • Manage rostering, workforce planning and team development.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and performance management.
  • Work with the Veterinary Director to support clinic success and growth.
  • Monitor clinic performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support workflow management and operational efficiency.
  • Manage stock, supplier relationships and general clinic administration.
  • Ensure exceptional client service standards are maintained.
  • Support compliance, WHS and operational processes.
  • Handle client feedback professionally and constructively.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Practice Manager, Head Veterinary Nurse, or veterinary industry leader who enjoys balancing people leadership, client experience, team development, and business operations.

About the Role

As Practice Manager, you'll play a key leadership role in the success of the clinic, supporting both the team and business operations while ensuring exceptional care for patients and clients.

You'll work closely with the Veterinary Director and regional leadership team to create a positive culture, support staff development, and drive clinic performance.

This is a full-time position (38 hours per week) and we can offer flexibility in how those hours are worked:

  • Five shorter shifts per week, or

To maintain visibility with the entire team and provide leadership across all areas of the business, the successful candidate will be required to work at least one Saturday per month.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, mentoring, and supporting veterinary nurses, receptionists, and support staff
  • Driving a positive, engaged, and high-performing clinic culture
  • Managing rostering, workforce planning, and team development
  • Supporting recruitment, onboarding, and performance management
  • Working closely with the Veterinary Director to support clinic success
  • Monitoring clinic performance and identifying opportunities for growth and improvement
  • Supporting workflow management and operational efficiency
  • Managing stock control, supplier relationships, and general clinic administration
  • Ensuring exceptional client service standards are maintained
  • Supporting compliance, workplace health and safety, and operational processes
  • Handling client feedback and resolving issues professionally and constructively
  • Contributing to strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives

About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has previous Practice Manager, Head Veterinary Nurse, or veterinary leadership experience
  • Has experience working within the veterinary industry
  • Holds a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent qualification (highly regarded)
  • Has strong leadership, coaching, and people management skills
  • Is confident managing teams and driving positive culture
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Has strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Is commercially minded and understands clinic performance drivers
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Leads with positivity, accountability, and professionalism
