Job summary

Ability WA Careers seeks a capable Practice Lead to work alongside a team of support workers, modelling best practice and coaching peers. You will help people we support lead meaningful, safe and self-directed lives while collaborating with coordinators and mentors.

The role emphasizes hands-on support with shift leadership, non-supervisory structure, and a strong focus on community integration and daily living assistance.

Qualifications

• Experience in disability support or related caring discipline.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Solid planning and organisation – ability to hold a shift together.
• Comfortable with Microsoft Office and Ability WA systems.
• Good working knowledge of contemporary disability practice.
• Comfortable providing daily living and personal care for all genders.
• Must be able to drive wheelchair-accessible vans.
• Familiarity with Practice Leadership and Active Support concepts.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct personal support on the floor in line with support plans.
• Perform on-floor tasks including personal care and community activities.
• Allocate time for off-floor administration and as the first contact for customers/families.
• Embed Practice Leadership and Active Support principles.
• Note: escalation sits with Community Services Coordinator.
