Adelaide Private Surgeons is seeking an experienced Practice Director to join our growing specialist surgical practice and become an integral part of our next stage of development.

We are looking for a genuine people leader who understands that successful businesses are built through strong people, clear communication, sound commercial decision-making and effective systems. Someone who can see the bigger picture while remaining connected to what is happening across the practice; navigate different personalities and perspectives, and know when to listen, when to challenge and when to lead.

Working collaboratively with the Managing Director and Partners, you will help shape the strategic priorities of the practice and translate them into meaningful business outcomes. You will provide senior non-clinical leadership across people and culture, business and financial performance, governance, systems, risk and continuous improvement.

This is not a traditional Practice Manager position focused on front-desk administration and day-to-day scheduling. We are looking for a senior leader who can look across the organisation, identify opportunities and challenges, strengthen our people and systems, and help build the organisational capability required for continued growth.

We want you to bring ideas to the table, ask good questions and be confident providing a different perspective when it is needed. Your experience and judgement will be valued as we work together to determine what the next chapter of Adelaide Private Surgeons looks like.

Who we are looking for

You will be an experienced senior manager or business leader, ideally from specialist healthcare, medical practice management or a similarly complex professional services environment. You will have demonstrated experience leading teams, managing business performance and turning strategy into action.

Your commercial capability will be important, but how you lead people will matter just as much. You will understand people, adapt your communication to different situations and be comfortable establishing clear expectations and accountability while maintaining a positive and respectful workplace.

You will have the confidence to address performance and complex workforce matters when required, while recognising that great leadership is also about developing people, building capability and creating an environment where people can do their best work.

You will be commercially astute and comfortable with budgets, financial information and performance reporting. You don't need to be the accountant, but you do need to understand the numbers, ask the right questions and use information to make sound business decisions.

Above all, you will bring integrity, emotional intelligence, discretion and sound judgement, with the ability to build credibility with highly accomplished clinicians while remaining approachable and connected to the broader team.

Success will be seen in a team that understands where the practice is heading, what is expected of them and how they contribute to its success. It will be reflected in clear accountability, strong communication, effective systems and a workplace where people feel valued and issues are addressed constructively.

For the Directors, success means having a trusted senior business leader alongside them who understands the practice, understands its people and can help turn their vision into action, allowing them to remain focused on delivering exceptional clinical care.

Remuneration

The position offers a base salary of $110,000 per annum plus superannuation, with the opportunity for remuneration growth based on performance. An agreed framework of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Objective Key Results (OKRs) will provide clear expectations and recognise the contribution you make to the ongoing success and growth of the practice.
