Aurecon in Brisbane seeks a Senior Power Systems Lead to guide a diverse team across renewable, storage, and hybrid projects. You will drive grid advisory services, modelling, and engagement with clients to optimise connections and performance.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in power systems or grid connection.
• Experience in consulting, utilities, developers, or operations.
• Strong capability in grid connection modelling.
• Experience with PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, or equivalent tools.
• Understanding of generation control systems.
• Relevant electrical engineering qualifications.
• RPEQ registration or willingness to obtain.
• Collaborative and supportive leadership style.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.
• Ability to support site-based roles when needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead and empower a diverse, high-performing power systems team
• Guide specialists connecting renewable generation, storage, and hybrid projects to the NEM
• Provide grid advisory services covering connection strategy, generator performance standards, system strength, and registration
• Oversee power system modelling using PSS®E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, and OEM models
• Coach team members and build technical capability and confidence
• Collaborate with engineering, commercial, digital, advisory, and environmental teams
• Refine modelling approaches and champion quality and continuous improvement
• Mentor team members and promote inclusive practices
• Contribute to business development through relationship-building
• Build a high-performing power systems team through strategic recruitment and development of in-house talent
• Deliver projects supporting a cleaner, more reliable, and more equitable energy future
