Job summary

Hearth Allied Health is a growing NDIS registered provider seeking a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner to join a friendly Behaviour Support and Allied Health team in Melbourne, VIC. The role focuses on delivering person-centred support and PBS interventions within an interdisciplinary setting.

The successful candidate will hold a tertiary qualification in a related field and be registered as an NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner, with strong communication, collaboration, and planning

Qualifications

• Experience working with people with a disability.
• Working knowledge of the NDIS and NDIS practice standards.
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills within an interdisciplinary team.
• Collaborative approach with stakeholders.
• Developed skills in organisation, time management, planning and priority setting.
• Current driving licence and access to a car.
• Working with Children Check/NDIS Worker Screening Check.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement person-centred support in line with client needs.
• Conduct functional behaviour assessments and develop behaviour support plans.
• Perform service needs assessments and identify restrictive practices.
• Plan, deliver and evaluate behaviour supports per standards and legislation.
• Provide advice in positive behaviour support to individuals and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with an experienced practitioner to train stakeholders on plan implementation.
• Contribute to supervision and practice development within the PBS team.
• Participate in organisational audits and perform related duties.

About You:

• Experience working with people with a disability

About the role:

The key responsibilities of the role are as follows:

Develop and implement person-centred support in the following areas:

• Functional behaviour assessment
• Behaviour support plans (interim and comprehensive)
• Service needs assessment
• Identification of Restrictive practice
• Plan, deliver and evaluate behaviour supports relating to the individual's needs in line with the Disability Services Standards, Child Safety, NDIS and other relevant legislative requirements
• Provision of advice in positive behaviour support to individuals, stakeholders, and organisations
• In collaboration with an experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner, provide training in implementation of strategies and interventions recommended on the behaviour support plan to stakeholders involved in implementation
• Use knowledge and practical skills gained through practical experience to provide positive behaviour support as part of an interdisciplinary team
• Actively participate in supervision and supervised practice as the supervisee to build on behaviour support knowledge and skillsParticipation in organisational audits as required
• Other PBS related duties as required

Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in a related field. For example, Community Services, Education, Psychology, Applied Behaviour Analysis, Social Work, Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy.
• Registered as an NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner
• Entry level practitioner pathway/alternate assessment pathway applications will also be considered (Support with registration prior to commencement will be provided)
• Employee Working with Children Check/NDIS Worker Screening Check
• Current driving licence and car
