Job summary

Bayside Council is seeking a casual Pool Lifeguard Attendant at Angelo Anestis Aquatic Centre in Sydney, NSW. The role focuses on proactive supervision, patron safety, first aid and efficient centre operations.

The ideal candidate will hold NSW lifeguard qualifications (RLS preferred), a Senior First Aid and CPR certificate, and a Working with Children Check. Flexible hours between 5am and 9:30pm, five to seven days per week depending on centre needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive supervision of all aquatic areas ensuring patron safety and first aid.
• Respond to emergencies and maintain safe operations of the Centres.
• Deliver high level customer service and ensure patrons comply with Centre conditions of use.
• Promote Bayside Council values through ethical, professional behaviour.
• Collaborate with the team, Manager and stakeholders to achieve objectives.
• Monitor facility usage and address safety issues promptly.
• Ensure compliance with Child Safe Practices and organisational policies.

About The Role

Pool Lifeguard Attendant primary purpose is to provide proactive supervision of all aquatic areas ensuring patron safety, first aid, emergency incident response procedures and efficient operations of the Centres while delivering value for all stakeholders and community in an ethical, social, and environmentally responsible manner.

You can also expect to:

• Provide a high level of customer service to assist in ensuring patrons comply with the Centre's conditions of use and entry requirements.
• Promote the positive and collaborative culture and values of the organisation through open, fair, and transparent decision making and ethical, professional behaviour.
• Work in collaboration with and assist the team, Manager, and other key stakeholders to achieve business unit goals, work requests, demands and Council priorities.
• Ensure potential safety issues which may cause injury or illness to staff or patrons are addressed or reported immediately.
• Proactively monitor the use of facilities by public and sporting groups in accordance with the Centre's policies and procedures.
• Ensure Child Safe Practices and procedures are implemented and complied with to mitigate risks.
• Report all incidents and hazards in line with operational and reporting procedures, and undertake priority action to notify, warn patrons and eliminate further hazards and risk of harm as soon as possible.
• Actively contribute to the review of policies and procedures to maintain regulatory compliance.

About You

We are looking for an industrious individual with the following:

• Current Pool Lifeguard Qualifications recognised in NSW (preferably RLS)
• Current Senior First Aid and CPR Certificate
• Current Working with Children Check (NSW).
• Hours of work between 5am to 9.30pm Monday to Sunday. However, commencing and finishing times will be flexible and depend on operational needs of each of the centres.

Salary range:

$32.97 to $36.93 per hour plus 25% casual loading, plus 12% superannuation.

Applicants may be required to satisfactorily undertake a Criminal History Check, Medical and/or Working with Children check in accordance with the position.
