Job summary

Cumberland City Council is seeking a Pool Lifeguard to support aquatic operations across its Centres. The role focuses on delivering high-quality customer service and maintaining a clean, safe, and well-presented facility for patrons and hirers.

The successful applicant will hold a Pool Lifeguard Licence, WWCC, and current First Aid/CPR certificates, with duties including supervision and adherence to safety standards across council sites.

Job description

Located 20km west of Sydney on Dharug country, with a population of over 250,000 residents, Cumberland City Council is the fourth most populous Local Government Area in Greater Sydney. Council’s Aquatic and Leisure department sits within the Assets, Capital and Facilities business unit that forms part of the City Services directorate that focuses on and is responsible for the beautification of the Cumberland LGA. Cumberland City Council owns and operates five (5) Aquatic and Leisure Centres across the LGA which provide aquatic, leisure and wellness programs and services to our community.

In contributing to the overarching vision, the Pool Lifeguard will assist the Aquatic Operations Supervisor to provide patrons and hirers of Cumberland City Council Aquatic Centres with high-quality customer service and a clean, safe, friendly and well-presented facility. This is achieved through the effective supervision and evaluation of Councils aquatic facilities to ensure safety, quality and professional operation that exceeds industry standards.

The successful applicant will require:

• Current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
• Current Pool Lifeguard Licence
• Current HLTAID011 Provide First Aid Certificate
• Current HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate
• High level of interpersonal and customer service skills

About this role:

• Permanent, full-time position
• 70 hour fortnight
• Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Rostered Day Off (RDO) arrangement
• Located at Council's Swim Centres, with occasional travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

• Grade 3 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,105.83 to $1,354.65 per week, plus 12% superannuation
• The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role

What you'll need to have for this role:

• The right to live and work in Australia
• Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
• Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Council’s Health Monitoring Procedure, as required.
