Job summary

Central Coast Council NSW is hiring a Pool Lifeguard to supervise aquatic centres, ensuring safety and positive customer experiences for the Central Coast community. You will actively monitor the swimming environment, respond to emergencies and support water quality monitoring, programs and event setup.

The role includes seasonal temporary and casual positions, working up to 38 hours per week across Wyong Olympic Pool and other leisure locations.

Qualifications

• Current Royal Life Saving Society Australia Pool Lifeguard qualification.
• WWCC clearance number (or application) with date of birth for verification purposes.
• Demonstrated experience working in an aquatic or leisure environment providing aquatic safety.
• A strong customer service focus and the ability to create a positive experience for centre users.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff and members of the public, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to organisational goals and outcomes.
• Flexibility and willingness to work across multiple Council work locations.

Job description

• Supervise pool safety and respond to customer, first aid and emergency needs.
• Support programs, events and daily aquatic centre operations.
• 1 x temporary part-time position and Casual positions available, working up to 38 hours per week.

About the role

As a Pool Lifeguard, you will assist with the supervision and control of Council's Leisure and Aquatic Centres, helping to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for all users. You will actively supervise the swimming environment, respond to emergencies and first aid situations, support water quality monitoring, and assist with program and event set up, delivery and pack up.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Current Royal Life Saving Society Australia Pool Lifeguard qualification.
• Current Working with Children Check Clearance Number or Application Number, plus date of birth for verification purposes.
• Demonstrated experience working in an aquatic or leisure environment providing aquatic safety.
• A strong customer service focus and the ability to create a positive experience for centre users.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff and members of the public, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to organisational goals and outcomes.
• Flexibility and willingness to work across multiple Council work locations.

The commencing salary for this position is up to $30.84 per hour. Central Coast Council also provides progression opportunities for employees to progress up to the maximum salary of $35.73 per hour on completion of assessment of skills and/ or performance, plus 12% superannuation + Level 1 Adverse Working Conditions of $0.534 per hour.

• We have a seasonal temporary position working minimum 25 hours per week up to 38 hours per week until end of March 2027
• This role is located at Wyong Olympic Pool but requires flexibility to work across Council's Leisure and Aquatic Centres.
• This role may require work across multiple locations and a range of shifts to support aquatic operations, programs and customer service needs. Must be available to work shifts Monday to Sunday between 4:45am to 10pm.

Offer Details (Casual)

The commencing salary for this position is $37.16 per hour including 25% casual loading plus 12% superannuation + Level 1 Adverse Working Conditions of $0.534 per hour.
