Job summary

Hoban Recruitment is seeking an experienced APS6 Policy Officer to support a Federal Government agency based in Sydney, NSW. You will contribute to reform initiatives and provide strategic policy advice, analysis, and recommendations.

You will work with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement policy, projects, and initiatives, manage sensitive issues, and deliver high-quality government documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience in policy development, analysis and implementation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prepare high-quality government-style documentation.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capabilities.
• Sound judgement and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Experience in a government or policy-focused environment is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement policy, strategies and projects aligned with reform priorities.
• Conduct detailed policy analysis and provide evidence-based recommendations.
• Prepare policy papers, briefings, reports, presentations and correspondence.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
• Support and lead consultation and engagement activities.
• Analyse data and technical information to inform decision-making.
• Contribute to project delivery and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage sensitive and complex issues with sound judgement and initiative.
