Job description

Talent International is currently recruiting for an APS6 Policy Officer to work for one of our Federal Government clients at one of its multiple office locations across NSW. The position iscontract role till end of Dec with the possibility of extension. The role pays $60.26 per hour + Super.

7.6 hours per day and 38 hours per week

The Role

As an APS6 Policy Officer, you will work collaboratively to develop and implement policy, strategies and reform projects. You will undertake research and analysis, prepare high-quality written materials and engage with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of reform policies, strategies and projects.
  • Research and analyse complex policy matters.
  • Prepare high-quality policy papers, briefs, reports, presentations and correspondence.
  • Identify, establish and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Design, support and lead stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Use data and technical information to develop evidence-based recommendations.
  • Apply sound judgement to progress work within relevant governance and authorisation frameworks.
  • Manage competing priorities and deliver work within agreed timeframes.
  • Contribute to broader reform projects and organisational priorities.
  • Work independently under limited supervision while contributing effectively to the wider team.
  • Strong analytical, research and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise briefs, reports, presentations and correspondence concerning complex matters.
  • Experience working effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to apply structured approaches to analysing information, identifying issues and developing practical solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and relationship-management experience.
  • Ability to incorporate feedback and work collaboratively to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Capacity to adapt to changing priorities and manage competing demands.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise initiative and make sound decisions under limited supervision.
  • Knowledge of program governance or project-planning methodologies.
  • Knowledge of or experience within the disability reform sector.
  • Experience supporting complex procurement activities within a politically sensitive environment.
