Platypus Shoes Canberra Outlet is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to work alongside the Store Manager, driving sales, coaching the team, and delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced retail environment.

You will lead by example, manage rosters, monitor KPIs, maintain visual merchandising, and ensure OH&S compliance while creating an energetic, inclusive store culture. This role offers growth through extensive training and access to staff benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience as a senior casual, key holder, 3IC, or supervisor in high-volume retail.
• Proven ability to lead a team and hit sales/KPI targets.
• Hands-on leader with proactive approach and strong coaching mindset.
• Excellent communication and stock/visual merchandising know-how.
• Experience with wage rosters and cost control.

As the Assistant Manager at Platypus Shoes Canberra Outlet, you'll work side-by-side with the Store Manager to support a team of passionate casual team members. Your focus will be on driving sales and KPIs, coaching the team, and delivering next-level customer service. You'll play a key role in creating an energetic store culture, while developing your leadership skills in a fast-paced, high-impact retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Store Manager in driving store performance by achieving sales targets, KPIs, and maintaining visual merchandising standards
• Motivate and inspire the team to deliver outstanding results in sales and customer experience
• Monitor and analyse store sales performance daily, weekly, and monthly – celebrate wins and identify opportunities for growth
• Manage rosters and wage spend in line with company targets and operational efficiency
• Coach and mentor team members, driving high morale, ongoing training, and succession planning
• Oversee stock levels, store presentation, shrinkage control, and operational excellence
• Ensure compliance with all OH&S policies and relevant state and national legislation

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience as a senior casual, key holder, 3IC, or supervisor in a high-volume retail environment
• Proven ability to lead a team and deliver strong results in sales and KPIs
• A proactive, hands-on leader with a 'Make it Happen' mindset
• Strong communication skills and a passion for coaching others
• Operational know-how across stock management and visual merchandising
