black.ai is building Heidi, a clinician-focused AI platform. This role leads the team that makes Heidi's cloud platform reliable and secure, owning infrastructure, SLOs, and on-call rotation, while keeping engineers productive.

Qualifications

• Significant experience owning developer platform, build and release, or core infrastructure.
• Hands-on expertise in TypeScript/React and a major backend language.
• Strong CI/CD, monorepo, and build systems experience.
• Proven impact on engineering efficiency with measurable improvements.
• Experience migrating large codebases incrementally.
• Service mindset: measure platform impact on other teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the foundations team covering build, deploy, frontend platform and backend platform.
• Own the path from commit to production: build times, test reliability, environments, canary rollouts and rollback paths.
• Set the frontend foundations: component library, design system, app shell, routing, performance budgets.
• Set the backend foundations: service scaffolding, shared libraries, API conventions, data access patterns.
• Reduce flaky tests and long CI runs; treat developer experience as a product with metrics.
• Partner with Release Manager, cloud and reliability teams and product engineering leads.
