Job summary

Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) Brisbane is seeking an APS 6 Platform Administrator to join the Enterprise Platforms team. The role covers day-to-day admin and third-level support for on-premises and cloud services such as Microsoft Entra ID, AD, PIM, Exchange Online, M365 and Azure.

You will help implement changes, support ICT projects, and ensure security, patching and monitoring across cloud and on‑prem environments in line with ACSC guidance.

Qualifications

• Australian citizenship is required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide third-level technical support for on-premises and cloud services including M365, Azure and related platforms.

• Assist with after-hours or on-call support and participate in travel if required.

Austrade is looking to fill an APS 6 Platform Administrator role within the Enterprise Platforms team.

The Enterprise Platforms team is responsible for the operation and support of a range of enterprise technology services, including identity and access management, Microsoft 365 (M365), Azure platform services and other cloud-based SaaS solutions.

The team supports Austrade staff across a global network spanning more than 50 countries and works closely with other technology teams to provide secure, reliable and fit-for-purpose services.

The Platform Administrator will undertake a mix of operational and project-based work. This includes providing third-level technical support, implementing changes and project deliverables, and ensuring the platforms under the team's responsibility remain secure, patched, maintained, healthy and appropriately configured.

The Platform Administrator will be responsible for:

• Providing day-to-day administration and third-level support for on-premises and cloud services, including but not limited to:
• Microsoft Entra ID
• Active Directory Domain Services
• Privileged Identity Management (PIM)
• Exchange Online and hybrid Exchange
• Microsoft 365 services
• Azure Automation and other Azure platform services
• Supporting, monitoring, maintaining and optimising Microsoft Azure, M365 and other cloud-based SaaS solutions, while supporting legacy platforms until they can be modernised or re-platformed.
• Investigating and resolving complex technical incidents and escalations from other ICT support teams.
• Undertaking technical tasks and implementing changes required to support ICT projects and service improvements.
• Ensuring systems remain appropriately patched, maintained, monitored and configured to provide secure and reliable services.
• Implementing and maintaining security controls across cloud and on-premises environments in accordance with ACSC guidance and Austrade's cyber security requirements.
• Developing and maintaining technical documentation, operational procedures and support documentation.
• Providing high-quality technical support and advice to customers and stakeholders in a timely manner.
• Providing technical guidance and knowledge sharing to other members of the team and broader ICT support areas.
• Identifying opportunities to improve the security, reliability, automation and efficiency of platforms and operational processes.

Note: The role may provide opportunities to participate in after-hours or on-call support arrangements, with domestic or international travel required only in limited circumstances.

• Security clearance – our successful candidate is required to hold, or have the ability to obtain, and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.
