Job summary

Mitchell Plastic Welding (MPW) in Tasmania is seeking an experienced poly/HDPE welder for varied field and workshop work. Based in Castle Forbes Bay, you will travel to the CFB factory, Huon Valley and broader southern projects, with occasional distant works requiring staying away from home.

You'll perform extrusion, electrofusion and butt welding, contribute to rotomoulding and construction projects, and support the team with safety and quality at the forefront.

Qualifications

• Qualified and experienced poly/HDPE welder.
• HDPE butt welding experience with McElroy TracStar & data logging.
• Construction site safety credentials and white card.

Responsibilities

• Weld poly/HDPE using extrusion, electrofusion and butt welding as required.
• Work across factory, workshop and field sites including rotomoulding tasks.
• Support and mentor less experienced team members and maintain safety standards.

About The Role

• MPW is seeking an experienced and qualified poly/HDPE welding all-rounder


• Based in Castle Forbes Bay, with work locations varying between the CFB factory, Huon Valley, broader southern Tasmania projects, and some distant works (Strahan, Midlands, Launceston etc.) requiring staying away from home


• Extrusion, electrofusion and buttwelding depending on scope of works for projects


• Plastic fabrications in a workshop environment


• Labouring for construction projects and our rotomoulding department


• Working in a range of outdoor conditions, rain, hail or shine


• Creative thinking and problem solving

About You

• Qualified and experienced poly/HDPE welder


• Team player and able to support less experienced workers


• Accountable and confident working independently


• Professional and personable for liaising with customers and representing MPW


• Prioritises safety & quality


• HDPE butt welding experience, McElroy TracStar & data logging experience


• Construction industry white card


• C class car licence (truck classes are an advantage)


• Chainsaw, telehandler & excavator tickets & experience also viewed favourably


• Willing to participate in pre-employment drug & alcohol screening and police checks
