Job summary

Oceanfront Hotel Cairns is seeking an experienced plasterer for a full-time contract role concentrating on plastering across guest rooms, common areas and back-of-house. You will work with hotel management to plan repairs and ongoing maintenance while minimising disruption to guests.

Key duties include patching and replacing plasterboard, finishing joints, repairing water- and impact-damaged areas, cornice work, preparing surfaces for painting, room refreshes and defect rectification.

Qualifications

• Proven plastering experience, ideally in commercial, hospitality or maintenance settings.

Responsibilities

• Setting, sanding and finishing joints, cracks and holes to a high standard.

About us

Oceanfront Hotel Cairns is a 155-room waterfront hotel. We're looking for an experienced plasterer to join our team and help keep the property looking its best.

About the role

This is a full-time contract role focused on plastering across guest rooms, common areas and back-of-house. You'll work closely with hotel management to plan and complete repairs, refurbishments and ongoing maintenance, while keeping disruption to guests to a minimum.

Duties include:

• Patching, repairing and replacing plasterboard walls and ceilings
• Setting, sanding and finishing joints, cracks and holes to a high standard
• Repairing water-damaged and impact-damaged areas
• Cornice installation and repairs
• Preparing surfaces ready for painting, and light painting touch-ups where needed
• Room refreshes and defect rectification
• Keeping work areas clean, safe, dust-controlled and guest-ready

About you:

• Proven experience as a plasterer, ideally in commercial, hospitality or maintenance settings
• Painting or carpentry skills are a bonus
• Current ABN and public liability insurance
• QBCC licence where required for the work
• White Card
• A high-quality finish and attention to detail
• Reliable, self-motivated and able to work independently
• Professional and respectful in a working hotel environment with guests on site
