Job summary

Coogee is seeking a motivated Plant Technician (Shift Operator - Level 1 Trainee) to join our Chlor Alkali site in Lytton, Queensland. This trainee role provides an 18-month pathway to become a fully qualified Shift Operator, with comprehensive on-the-job training.

Working on a rotating 12-hour roster, you will operate and monitor production equipment, collect samples, follow safety procedures and collaborate with maintenance, logistics and engineering teams to ensure safe, reliable plant

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing or industrial operations is desirable.
• Interest in developing a career in chemical manufacturing.
• Strong commitment to safety and following procedures.
• Motivation to complete both practical and theoretical training.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Sound computer literacy and ability to learn new systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor chlor-alkali production equipment and related systems.
• Conduct routine plant inspections and identify operational issues.
• Collect and test samples to maintain product quality.
• Record production data and report deviations.
• Follow safety procedures and respond to alarms as required.
• Assist with start-ups, shutdowns and maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with logistics, production, maintenance and engineering teams.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and safety culture.
