Coogee Chemicals is seeking a motivated Plant Technician (Shift Operator - Level 1 Trainee) to join our Chlor Alkali facility in Lytton, Queensland. The position offers a structured pathway to become a qualified Shift Operator in ~18 months with comprehensive on-the-job training.

The role operates on a rotating 12-hour shift roster (2 Day, 2 Night, 4 days off) and requires safety-conscious teamwork to ensure production and quality standards are met.

Qualifications

• Desirable experience in manufacturing or industrial operations.
• Interest in building a career in chemical manufacturing.
• Strong commitment to safety and following procedures.
• Motivation to complete both practical and theoretical training requirements.
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Sound computer literacy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor chlor-alkali production equipment and related systems.
• Perform routine plant inspections and identify operational issues.
• Collect and test process samples to maintain product quality.
• Record production data and report deviations or alarms.
• Follow safety procedures and respond to plant alarms.
• Assist with start-ups, shutdowns and maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with logistics, production, maintenance and engineering teams.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and a strong safety culture.
