Job summary

Upper Lachlan Shire Council in Crookwell is seeking a dedicated roller operator to support road maintenance and construction. You will operate a roller, compact earthworks and pavement materials, and contribute to road formation shoulders and hard stands.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate roller safely for road maintenance and earthworks.
• Train other plant operators in roller operation as required.
• Operate other road construction and maintenance plant as needed.
• Deliver high levels of customer service and professional conduct at worksites.
• Perform general labour tasks such as pothole patching, sealing and erosion control.
• Control traffic at worksites per regulations and standards.
• Maintain and perform minor maintenance on plant and report needs.

About the role

Reporting to a Team Leader, you will be responsible u ndertaking the safe operation of the Roller for the maintenance and construction of roads, compacting earthworks and pavement materials, road formation shoulders and hard stand areas.

• Crookwell - 38 hours a week
• Hourly rate starts at $30.75 + superannuation(Grade 5 in accordance with Council's Salary System and the Local Government State Award)

Responsibilities include:

• Ensure that all works are completed in accordance with correct work practices and procedures and relevant regulations.
• Training other plant operators in the operation of Rollers as required.
• Operate other road construction and maintenance plant.
• Ensure consistent delivery of the highest level of customer service.
• Undertaking general labouring duties including but not limited to, pothole patching, sealing, erection of erosion and sediment control, excavation and spreading of material, monitor and maintain stockpiles.
• Control traffic at worksites, including the placement of signs, lights and barriers, in accordance with relevant legislative requirements and standards.
• Maintain plant in a reliable, tidy and safe manner, including minor maintenance such as fuelling, tyre pressure, fluid levels, filters, cleaning, lubrication and greasing, and advising repair and maintenance needs to the workshop.

Who are we looking for?

• You have a WHS General Construction Induction Card and Current Class C Drivers license.
• A motivated and enthusiastic person who has obtained contemporary knowledge and demonstrated experience in road and drainage construction, and maintenance works
• You have demonstrated experience in operation of road maintenance plant/roller.
• You have the ability to work productively as a member of a team and contribute to team goals
