Job summary

Barrett Burston Malting, part of Soufflet Malt, seeks a full-time Plant Operator for our Pinkenba malt plant in Brisbane.

This is a physical role requiring lifting up to 25 kg, working in dusty and wet environments, with shifts 6am or 8am, Monday to Friday, plus weekend overtime.

Duties include high-pressure cleaning, loading/unloading trucks, sampling grain, and completing paperwork, with emphasis on safety and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Autonomous and self-motivated with the ability to plan tasks.
• Ability to follow SOPs and safety procedures precisely.
• Experience handling physical workloads in industrial environments.
• Flexibility to work 6am or 8am starts and weekends if required.
• Forklift license is advantageous.

Job description

Barrett Burston Malting, part of Soufflet Malt, the world’s largest malting company, is currently seeking a full-time Plant Operator for our Pinkenba malt plant in Brisbane.

This is a physical role where you can expect to twist and climb stairs as well as lift and move weights. Shifts are Monday to Friday commencing at 6am or 8am, with regular overtime on weekends available.

Duties include:

• High pressure cleaning
• Loading trucks and containers
• Unloading trucks
• Sampling and testing grain
• Completing check sheets/paperwork

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

• Ability to work autonomously
• Ability to plan, organise and prioritise work
• Previous experience cleaning within a production or agribusiness environment
• Safety-focus with experience working to high safety and hygiene standards
• Ability to perform and meet the physical demands of the position including but not limited to: lifting 25 kilos and working in dusty and wet environments with proper PPE
• Must be able to read standard operating procedures, follow written and verbal instructions, and complete safety risk assessments
• Ability to work shifts commencing at 6am, and undertake some weekend work
• Forklift license would be beneficial
