Job summary

Western Downs Regional Council is seeking a Plant Operator - Loader to perform maintenance and construction duties using the council's plant fleet. You will operate wheel loaders and other heavy equipment, ensuring quality work within timeframes while promoting safety and efficiency.

The role requires plant operator experience with wheel loaders, a valid HR licence (or willingness to obtain on commencement), and a White Card.

Qualifications

• White Card (essential).
• MUTCD Level 1 and/or 2 desirable.
• Tickets to operate other heavy machinery preferable.

The Opportunity

The Plant Operator - Loader is responsible for undertaking maintenance and construction duties through the skilled operation of Council's plant fleet. This role encompasses a range of duties and responsibilities which may vary as directed by Council. The key ones include:

• Providing a high standard of operating skills on civil construction and maintaining plant and other equipment;
• Communicating effectively to ensure an understanding in maintaining assigned equipment;
• Completing allocated tasks consistently within agreed time frames; and
• Being aware and adhere safe work practices to ensure all risks are minimised.

About Yourself

A person in this position will need to have knowledge and experience in various aspects of Civil Construction and Maintenance works, OR be able to demonstrate equivalent related experience. It is also highly desirable for the successful candidate to have:

• Proven plant operator experience in Wheel Loader operations
• HR (Heavy Rigid) Drivers Licence or higher or willingness to obtain on commencement.
• Work Health and Safety General Construction Induction, White Card. (essential)
• MUTCD, Level 1 and/or 2 (desirable)
• Tickets to operate other heavy machinery are preferable.
