Job summary

Coolamon Shire Council is seeking a motivated Plant Operator to join the Engineering and Technical Services team in Coolamon. The role supports construction and maintenance of roads, footpaths, drainage and recreation assets, and requires a strong safety focus.

Applicants should have the White Card, MR/HC licences, Traffic Controller certification, and a Cert III in Civil Construction or willingness to obtain within 6 months. Employment includes pre-employment medical and drug testing.

Job description

Coolamon Shire Council is currently seeking applications from suitably qualified and motivated people for the position of Plant Operator within our Engineering and Technical Services team.

This role assists in the construction and maintenance of Council’s infrastructure, including roads, footpaths, drainage and recreational assets.

All employees of Council are required to undertake a pre-employment medical, which includes drug and alcohol testing, audiometry and physical assessments.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Current OH&S Construction Induction Certificate (White Card)
• Current MR Unrestricted Driver’s Licence
• HC Unrestricted Driver's Licence
• Traffic Controllers Certificate – Implement Traffic Control Plans
• Demonstrated competence in road construction and/or maintenance
• Chainsaw operations
• Experience operating plant and small equipment such as loaders, backhoes, forklifts, rollers and compactors
• Effective communication and teamwork skills
• A sound understanding of safety and risk assessment on worksites
• Cert III Civil Construction or willingness to obtain within first 6 months of employment

The salary range for this position is in accordance with Council’s Salary System – Band 1, Level 3, A to H, currently $1,118.30 to $1,265.55 per week dependent on qualifications and experience.
