Job summary

Ballina Shire Council on the Far North Coast of New South Wales is seeking a Plant Operator (MR truck) for the Road Patching Crew. The role involves operating a MR truck, performing labouring duties, and assisting with other plant such as rollers and loaders across diverse locations.

You will join a supportive team, rotate between crews, and bring a safe, productive approach with a White Card and a valid MR licence. Competitive salary and rostered days off are offered.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Position

Reporting to the Supervisor, this position is primarily responsible for operating a truck and conducting a variety of labouring duties to support the road patching functions of Council’s road maintenance team. The position will also assist in operating a range of other plant and equipment, including rollers, front‑end loaders and slashers, and requires flexibility to rotate among work crews and work across diverse locations and environments throughout the Shire. You will work constructively with a diverse team to ensure the team’s goals and objectives are achieved.

To be successful you will bring

• Demonstrated experience in the operation of various plant items (such as tractor/slasher, roller, front end loader, backhoe, etc.) and basic mechanical knowledge
• Demonstrated understanding of and experience in road maintenance and construction duties associated with roads and roadsides.
• Demonstrated experience in and ability to perform a range of physical labouring duties.
• Work Safely in the Construction Industry Induction ticket (white card).
• Class MR driver licence with relevant operational experience and a good and safe driving record.

• A salary range of $61,600 to $70,800 per annum (plus 12% superannuation) dependent upon skills, experience and qualifications.
