Job summary

Re.Group is establishing a new plastics sorting facility in Somersby, NSW, and seeks an experienced Plant Manager to lead the operation from start-up through ramp-up. You will be accountable for safety, people, production, quality and financial performance, building a compliant, high-performing team and embedding company standards.

You will work with project, engineering and operations teams to deliver reliable, safe, and efficient performance and to drive continuous improvement across the site.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading an industrial or processing facility.
• Experience commissioning or ramping up a new/upgrade project.
• Strong focus on health, safety and environmental performance.
• Experience in plastics, recycling or related industries is preferred.

We are seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead our new plastics sorting facility in Somersby. This is an opportunity to take ownership of a new operation, establish a high-performing team, and embed the systems, standards, and operating disciplines required to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient performance.

The Plant Manager will hold full accountability for the facility’s people, safety, production, quality, and financial performance. During the facility’s establishment and ramp-up, you will work closely with project, engineering, and operational teams to transition the plant into stable, high-performing operations.

About the role

• Lead the establishment, commissioning, and operational ramp-up of the new Somersby plastics sorting facility
• Take full accountability for the facility’s safety, people, production, quality, environmental, and financial performance
• Recruit, establish, and develop a capable, safety-focused site leadership and operational team
• Embed Re.Group’s health, safety, environmental, and compliance standards from the outset
• Develop and implement site operating plans, procedures, and performance measures
• Deliver agreed throughput, recovery, product quality, availability, and cost targets
• Manage live production activities while building disciplined, reliable, and efficient operating practices
• Ensure compliance with all legislative, regulatory, environmental, and contractual obligations
• Maintain audit readiness and accurate operational, safety, and compliance reporting
• Manage the site budget, labour requirements, and operating costs to achieve agreed commercial outcomes
• Establish and actively use plant capacity models to monitor availability, utilisation, and efficiency
• Work closely with engineering, maintenance, and project teams to resolve defects, improve reliability, and optimise plant performance
• Drive continuous improvement through LEAN principles, structured problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making
• Build productive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and other key stakeholders
• Provide regular reporting and performance insights to senior operational leadership

About you

• Proven experience as the accountable leader of an industrial, manufacturing, or processing facility
• Experience commissioning, establishing, or ramping up a new or significantly upgraded operation
• Strong operational leadership capability with a demonstrated commitment to health, safety, and environmental performance
• Experience in plastics, recycling, resource recovery, manufacturing, or another relevant industrial environment
• Demonstrated success establishing high-performing teams, systems, and operating disciplines
• Experience implementing LEAN, 5S, or other continuous-improvement methodologies
• Strong mechanical and technical aptitude, with the ability to oversee plant reliability, maintenance, and fault resolution
• Sound understanding of production planning, quality control, and plant-performance measures
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, including responsibility for site budgets and operational cost control
• A confident and visible leadership style, with the ability to set clear expectations and accountability
• Strong communication, stakeholder-management, and problem-solving capabilities
