Job summary

Re.Group is seeking a Maintenance Fitter for the Chinderah Materials Recovery Facility. The role runs Monday to Friday, 5am–1pm, contributing to safe, reliable operations at the Chinderah plant.

Ideal candidates bring mechanical maintenance and fitting experience, strong fault-finding skills, and a solid safety mindset. FIFO or site familiarity is not required, but a proactive, hands-on approach is essential.

• Mechanical maintenance and fitting experience.

• Formal mechanical trade qualifications are required.
• Current Forklift Licence and EWP ticket.
• Ability to collaborate with operators, contractors and site team.

Responsibilities

We’re looking for a Maintenance Fitter to join our team at our Chinderah Materials Recovery Facility (MRF).

This isn’t a workshop where everything stays clean, shiny and politely waits for attention. It’s a busy working plant where equipment moves, wears and occasionally decides it has had enough — and that’s where you come in.

The opportunity

Working Monday to Friday, 5am–1pm, you’ll play an important role in keeping our Chinderah facility safe, reliable and running efficiently.

And yes, 5am is early — but finishing at 1pm in Chinderah has its advantages!

What you’ll be doing

You’ll help keep the Chinderah plant reliable, safe and operating at its best.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance

• Diagnosing faults and completing breakdown repairs

• Fault finding across mechanical equipment and plant

• Identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability and performance

• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives

• Working closely with operations, contractors and site management

• Ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely and to a high standard

• Maintaining accurate maintenance records and reporting issues as required

We don't just want someone who can fix the same problem every Tuesday.

If you see something that could be improved, we want you to speak up and, where possible, help us fix it properly.

You’ll be working closely with the operations team and other site stakeholders, so being able to communicate effectively is just as important as knowing your way around bearings, belts, motors and gearboxes.

About you

Experience in recycling, waste or a Materials Recovery Facility would be great, but it isn’t essential.

What matters more is that you’re practical, safety-minded, confident with fault finding and take pride in leaving equipment better than you found it.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

• Mechanical maintenance and fitting experience

• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills

• A strong commitment to safety

• Mechanical trade qualifications

• Current Forklift Licence and EWP ticket

• The ability to work effectively with operators, contractors and the wider site team

• A hands-on, can-do approach

• A willingness to get involved and address problems rather than walk past them

There may occasionally be weekend work or call-outs when required, however this is predominantly a Monday–Friday day-shift role.
