Job summary

Calibre Engineering Pty Ltd in Mount Isa, QLD, is seeking a Planning Coordinator to join our mining projects and shutdowns team. You will coordinate detailed schedules, manage resources and ensure readiness for mobilisation and delivery across diverse projects.

Working with Operations Management and Project teams, you will develop timelines, monitor risks, and coordinate procurement, fleet, and workforce planning to keep work moving safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Planning Coordinator, Project Planner, Scheduler or similar.
• Demonstrated experience planning mining projects, maintenance activities and shutdowns.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Project or equivalent scheduling software.
• Experience developing project schedules, critical path programs and resource plans.
• Sound knowledge of procurement, equipment allocation and fleet coordination.
• Understanding of mining operations, project mobilisation and shutdown requirements.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management abilities.
• The ability to manage competing deadlines, anticipate challenges and adapt to changing priorities.

About the Opportunity

Calibre Engineering is seeking an experienced and highly organised Planning Coordinator to join our Mount Isa operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive planning professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, coordinating multiple projects and ensuring operations are organised, resourced and ready to deliver.

Working closely with our Operations Management and Project teams, you will play a key role in planning and scheduling mining projects, maintenance activities and shutdown works.

From project mobilisation and workforce scheduling through to procurement and equipment allocation, you'll be responsible for keeping everything on track and ensuring our teams have what they need, when they need it.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Shutdown Planning

• Develop, manage and maintain detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project or equivalent software.
• Coordinate planning requirements for newly awarded projects and shutdowns.
• Establish project timelines, milestones, critical paths and resource requirements.
• Monitor schedules, identify potential delays and proactively address planning risks.
• Work closely with operational teams to ensure projects are ready for mobilisation and delivery.

Resource & Procurement Coordination

• Coordinate procurement of materials, consumables, equipment and subcontractor services.
• Ensure materials and equipment are available ahead of scheduled works.
• Plan and coordinate fleet, equipment and resource allocations across multiple projects.
• Liaise with suppliers and internal teams regarding lead times and delivery requirements.

Workforce & Operational Scheduling

• Coordinate workforce planning, labour requirements and mobilisation schedules.
• Work with Operations Management to identify upcoming resource requirements and potential shortages.
• Maintain forward planning forecasts for personnel, fleet and equipment.
• Identify opportunities to improve resource utilisation and operational efficiency.

Planning, Reporting & Communication

• Lead weekly planning meetings with management and project stakeholders.
• Maintain and distribute project schedules, planning registers and resource reports.
• Monitor upcoming project milestones and commencement dates.
• Identify and escalated scheduling conflicts before they impact project delivery.
• Provide regular updates on project readiness, resource availability and operational priorities.

About You

We're looking for someone who is organised, solutions-focused and confident managing multiple moving parts in a busy operational environment.

To be successful, you will have:
