Job summary

Catalyst Metals Limited is seeking a Scheduling Engineer for our underground operations in Western Australia. You will develop and maintain monthly 3-Month Schedules (3MS) to guide underground mining activities and support production, safety, and business objectives.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or relevant discipline.
  • Current Western Australian C Class Driver's Licence.
  • Experience in underground mine planning and/or scheduling, preferably gold.
  • Proficiency with Deswik CAD, Deswik Scheduler and Deswik Ops.
  • Strong Excel and MS Office skills.
  • Solid understanding of underground mining methods and scheduling principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain monthly 3-Month Schedules (3MS) for underground mining operations.
  • Track scheduling performance to ensure safe, efficient production.
  • Plan underground infrastructure and support project activities.
  • Coordinate with Underground Operations to align mining activities with priorities.
  • Mentor Short-Term Planning Engineers.
  • Drive continuous improvement of scheduling systems and processes.
  • Collaborate with Geology, Technical Services and Maintenance to optimise resources.
  • Monitor plan compliance with weekly schedules.

About the Role

From remnant extraction to new mining areas coming online, the work here will stretch your capability and keep you engaged. This role sits within our Technical Services team and plays a key part in delivering safe, practical and production-aligned engineering outcomes underground.

You’ll work closely with geology, underground operations and maintenance to ensure plans are executable, risks are understood and performance is optimised. With multiple growth fronts across the mine, this is a dynamic environment where engineering decisions have a direct and visible impact.

Key Responsibilities

As our Scheduling Engineer, you will be a key member of the Technical Services team, responsible for developing and maintaining monthly 3-Month Schedules (3MS) that guide underground mining activities and support the achievement of production, safety and business objectives.

Reporting to the Senior Planning Engineer, you will work closely with Underground Operations, Geology and other technical disciplines to ensure mine plans are practical, achievable and aligned with operational priorities, while driving continuous improvement across planning and scheduling processes.

This is a newly created role that offers the opportunity to directly influence production outcomes across a growing underground business. The position is offered on an 8 days on, 6 days off FIFO roster, providing a strong work-life balance while remaining closely connected to site operations and decision-making. As the operation continues to grow and mature, the role is planned to transition to an attractive 4 days on, 3 days off FIFO roster, offering even greater flexibility and lifestyle benefits, subject to operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain monthly 3-Month Schedules (3MS) for underground mining operations
  • Track planning and scheduling performance to ensure production targets are achieved safely and efficiently
  • Plan underground infrastructure and support associated project activities
  • Work closely with Underground Operations to coordinate and schedule mining activities
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to Short-Term Planning Engineers
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within planning and scheduling systems and processes
  • Collaborate with Geology, Technical Services, Maintenance and other support functions to optimise resource utilisation
  • Monitor plan compliance and alignment with weekly and operational schedules
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or relevant discipline
  • Current Western Australian C Class Driver's Licence
  • Experience in underground mine planning and/or scheduling preferably gold
  • Strong competency in Deswik CAD (Spatial), Deswik Scheduler and Deswik Ops
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • A solid understanding of underground mining methods and scheduling principles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail
  • The ability to anticipate operational challenges and develop practical solutionsExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • The ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and deliver to deadlines
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to continuous improvement
