Job summary

Anglicare WA is seeking a StandBy Postvention Coordinator to lead suicide postvention support across the Pilbara region. Based in Karratha, this part-time max term (0.8 FTE) role delivers culturally sensitive, trauma-informed initial support and brief counselling to individuals and families affected by suicide.

You will liaise with communities, build partnerships with local services, and deliver community education on grief and bereavement while ensuring compliance with safeguarding and welfare

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in community development, social work, counselling or related social science area (or equivalent demonstrated practical experience)
• Experience delivering direct support to people in crisis, assessing needs and coordinating access to services
• Ability to deliver training and educate communities
• Ability to build collaborative partnerships with external stakeholders
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including with Aboriginal people
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities and lead a regional service response
• Experience or understanding of trauma and suicide bereavement is highly regarded

Responsibilities

• Coordinate postvention delivery across the Pilbara region
• Provide initial support and brief counselling to those bereaved by suicide
• Liaise with local communities and stakeholders to ensure high-quality service
• Develop and deliver community education on grief, loss and bereavement
• Meet safeguarding, police check and Working with Children checks requirements
