Job summary

Eastern Palliative Care Association Incorporated is seeking a part-time Bereavement Counsellor to provide specialist support within an interdisciplinary team. The role includes risk screening, psychosocial assessments, and delivering individual counselling and group programs for bereaved clients.

Applicants should have postgraduate bereavement qualifications and be eligible for professional membership. A driver’s licence and competence with common computer applications are required.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Theology with two CPCE units.
• Postgraduate qualification in bereavement.
• Eligible for membership/registration with relevant bodies.
• Extensive bereavement counselling experience with complex grief.
• Experience in group facilitation and presentations.
• Ability to engage in interdisciplinary team consultations.
• Strong communication, organisational, interpersonal and time management skills.
• Competent with common computer applications.
• Current Victorian driver’s licence and willingness to use own vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Undertakes bereavement risk screening and psychosocial assessments.
• Conducts bereavement counselling using theoretical frameworks.
• Facilitates bereavement groups and develops resources.
• Documents activities and coordinates with the team and providers.
• Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and planning.
• Manages workload with emphasis on quality, safety and risk management.
• Engages in culturally appropriate communication and practices.
