Fixed Term Full-time opportunity | 12 months
Based in Speers Point or Sydney office | Hybrid working available
About the role:

We’re looking for an experienced professional with PIAWE experience within the general workers compensation insurance scheme. Alternatively, we’d also love to hear from candidates with strong senior-level payroll experience and relevant transferable skills.

In this role, you will hold full responsibility for overseeing and ensuring the accurate and timely payment of workers’ benefits. You will manage the end-to-end benefits process, including the calculation of weekly entitlements, monitoring ongoing payments, and maintaining a portfolio of claims.

You will also play a key leadership role within the team, providing mentorship and guidance while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. This is a critical position that supports the integrity and effectiveness of our benefits delivery.

Your main responsibilities will include:

Your education, experience and skills will include:

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Leadership or mentoring experience (highly regarded)

Coal Services is a Specialised Health and Safety Scheme that provides an integrated suite of services to help identify, assess, monitor, and control many risks inherent in the NSW coal mining industry. Our preventative and responsive services in the areas of workplace health and safety, workers compensation, emergency response and training help to deliver on our purpose, 'to protect'. Our purpose, vision and values are aligned to focus on the safety and health of our industry and its workers.

Coal Mines Insurance (CMI) is responsible for administering a workers compensation scheme for the NSW coal mining industry. CMI has two customers workers and employers. Employers pay a premium in exchange for workers compensation coverage – these premiums fund the cost of claims and also the majority of the Coal Services operation. Workers are the primary beneficiary of the CMI Scheme.

Permanent roles are open only to Australian and New Zealand Permanent Residents or Citizens. Visa holders with unlimited right to work in Australia will be considered for Fixed Term Contracts.

Successful applicants will be required to complete a satisfactory background check (including criminal history and references) prior to commencement of employment.
