The GEO Group operates GEO Healthcare, providing primary healthcare to men in Victoria’s public prisons. We are seeking Pharmacy Technicians to assist with medication preparation, administration, inventory management, and ordering under supervision at Karreenga and Marngoneet Correctional Centres in Lara.

These roles are part-time, with a base salary of $65k plus super for full-time hours and pro-rata adjustment for part-time hours, plus dedicated professional development benefits and security

About the roles

GEO Healthcare provides primary healthcare to men in Public Prisons across Victoria. The role of Pharmacy Technicians at GEO Healthcare is to assist, within their scope of practice, with the management of medications. This includes assisting in the preparation for medication administration rounds, administering of prescribed medication, assisting in the management of medication inventory and ordering medication and other pharmaceuticals under supervision.

Opportunities exist for Part-time Pharmacy Technicians across both Karreenga Correctional Centre and Marngoneet Correctional Centre in Lara

Salary $65k + Super for Full Time (adjusted for pro-rata part-time hours)

Qualifications and Experience: (one of the below)

• Certificate III in Hospital or Health Services Pharmacy Support or equivalent, as approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia
• Certificate IV in Community Pharmacy Dispensary.
• Completion of a dispensary assistant module is highly desirable.
• Previous extensive work experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital or the community

Other Requirements of the role:

• Completion of a dispensary assistant module will be highly regarded.
• Medication Administration/Pharmacy Tech.
• Ability to work within a prison setting, which will involve direct contact with people in prison associated with the delivery of healthcare.
• Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Working outside of ordinary business hours may be required.
• Onsite working (no hybrid or remote working).
