Job summary
GEO Healthcare is seeking Pharmacy Technicians to support medication management in Victorian prisons. Roles welcome AINs, student nurses, and enrolled nurses to broaden experience in this field.
Part-time opportunities offered with full-time salary benchmarks discussed, and compensation adjusted for pro-rata hours. On-site work only, with opportunities for professional development and training.
Qualifications
- Certificate III in Hospital Pharmacy Technician or Community Pharmacy as approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia.
- Certificate IV in Health Care (Nursing Assistant) or equivalent for relevant med administration tasks.
- Completion of medication-related modules as part of Nursing/Pharmacy degree or related study.
Responsibilities
- Assist in medication preparation and administration within scope of practice.
- Manage medication inventory and place orders under supervision.
- Support in rounds and ensure proper documentation and medication handling.
- Work within a prison setting and comply with security and safety requirements.

About the roles
GEO Healthcare provides primary healthcare to men in Public Prisons across Victoria. The role of Pharmacy Technicians at GEO Healthcare is to assist, within their scope of practice, with the management of medications. This includes assisting in the preparation for medication administration rounds, administering of prescribed medication, assisting in the management of medication inventory and ordering medication and other pharmaceuticals under supervision. We are currently not only welcoming, but encouraging applications from Assistant in Nursing, Personal Care Assistance, and Enrolled Nursing candidates. Opportunities exist forPart Time Pharmacy Technicians. Full-Time salary $65k +Super (adjusted for pro-rata part-time hours).

Qualifications and Experience: (one of the below)
Certificate III in Health (Hospital Pharmacy Technician or Community Pharmacy) course or equivalent as approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia.
Assist Clients with Medication course as part of a Certificate III or Certificate IV in Health Care (e.g. Nursing Assistant).
Successful completion of medication related courses OR modules as part of an undergraduate degree in Nursing or Pharmacy.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and attention to detail skills.
- Ability to work within teams and collaboratively across teams.
- Strong computer and information technology skills.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and education.
Other Requirements of the role:
- Completion of a dispensary assistant module will be highly regarded
- Medication Administration/Pharmacy Tech
- Ability to work within a prison setting, which will involve direct contact with people in prison associated with the delivery of healthcare.
- Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Working outside of ordinary business hours may be required.
- Onsite working (no hybrid or remote working).
