The GEO Group Australia is seeking Pharmacy Technicians for Metropolitan Remand Centre in Victoria. Roles include assisting with medication preparation, administration and inventory under supervision, with opportunities for part-time or full-time hours.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Hospital or Health Services Pharmacy Support or equivalent
• Certificate IV in Community Pharmacy Dispensary
• “Assist Clients with Medication” course as part of a Certificate III or IV in Health Care
• Undergraduate degree in Nursing or Pharmacy with medication-related courses

About the roles

GEO Healthcare provides primary healthcare to men in Public Prisons across Victoria. The role of Pharmacy Technicians at GEO Healthcare is to assist, within their scope of practice, with the management of medications. This includes assisting in the preparation for medication administration rounds, administering of prescribed medication, assisting in the management of medication inventory and ordering medication and other pharmaceuticals under supervision. We are currently not only welcoming, but encouraging applications from Assistant in Nursing, Personal Care Assistance, and Enrolled Nursing candidates. Opportunities exist for Part Time and Full Time Pharmacy Technicians. Full Time salary $65k +Super (adjusted for pro-rata part-time hours).

Qualifications and Experience: (one of the below)

• Certificate III in Hospital or Health Services Pharmacy Support or equivalent, or Certificate IV in Community Pharmacy Dispensary.
• “Assist Clients with Medication” course as part of a Certificate III or Certificate IV in Health Care (e.g. Nursing Assistant).
• Successful completion of medication related courses as part of an undergraduate degree in Nursing or Pharmacy.

• Ability to work within teams and collaboratively across teams.
• Strong computer and information technology skills.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and education.

Other Requirements of the role:

• Completion of a dispensary assistant module will be highly regarded
• Medication Administration/Pharmacy Tech
• Valid Australian driver’s licence.
• Ability to work within a prison setting, which will involve direct contact with people in prison associated with the delivery of healthcare.
• Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Working outside of ordinary business hours may be required.
• Onsite working (no hybrid or remote working).
