The GEO Group Australia Pty Ltd operates Fulham Correctional Centre in Victoria. We are seeking Pharmacy Technicians for part-time and full-time roles to support medication management within a correctional setting.

Roles involve preparing for administration rounds, dispensing under supervision, and inventory control. A rotating roster includes shift and weekend work with development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Health (Hospital or Community Pharmacy) or equivalent per Pharmacy Board.
• Assist Clients with Medication course as part of Health Care qualification.
• Undergraduate Nursing or Pharmacy degree with medication courses.

About the role

Opportunities exist for Part Time and Full Time Pharmacy Technicians. Full Time salary $65k +Super (adjusted for pro‑ra­ta part‑time hours).

The role of the Pharmacy Technician at Fulham Correctional Centre is to assist, within their scope of practice, with the management of medications. This includes assisting in the preparation for medication administration rounds, administering of prescribed medication, assisting in the management of medication inventory and ordering medication and other pharmaceuticals under supervision.

Please note: The role will be on a rotating roster encompassing shift work and weekend work.

Qualifications and Experience:(one of the below)

• Certificate III in Health (Hospital Pharmacy Technician or Community Pharmacy) course or equivalent as approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia.
• “Assist Clients with Medication” course as part of a Certificate III or Certificate IV in Health Care (e.g. Nursing Assistant).
• Successful completion of medication related courses as part of an undergraduate degree in Nursing or Pharmacy.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Completion of dispensary assistant module is highly desirable.
• Previous experience as a pharmacy/dispensary technician in a hospital of community environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational and attention to detail skills.
• Ability to work within teams and collaboratively across teams.
• Strong computer and information technology skills.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and education.
• Previous experience administering medications.

Other Requirements of the role:

• Completion of a dispensary assistant module will be highly regarded
• Medication Administration/Pharmacy Tech
• Ability to work within a prison setting, which will involve direct contact with people in prison associated with the delivery of healthcare.
• Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Working outside of ordinary business hours may be required.
