Job summary

Spinal Life Australia is seeking a Personal Support Worker to assist clients with spinal cord injuries in their homes across the Townsville region. You will help with daily tasks, mobility, personal care and domestic duties, while benefiting from structured training with our Registered Nurse team.

The role offers fixed rosters, weekend/night/holiday penalties, and salary packaging options to boost take-home pay, along with ongoing onboarding and professional development.

Qualifications

• No specific prior disability/aged care experience required as full training is provided.
• A valid driver’s licence and own reliable vehicle are required.
• Smartphone device for shift updates and communication.
• NDIS Workers Screening Check and Blue Card (or willingness to obtain).
• NDIS Orientation Module completed or undertaken on joining.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with transfers in and out of bed and wheelchairs, using hoists when required.
• Provide grooming, bathing, dressing and dental hygiene assistance.
• Deliver personal care including toileting and bladder/bowel management.
• Support basic wound care and self-medication as directed.
• Perform domestic tasks such as meal prep, light housework and laundry.
• Facilitate community access, including transport to appointments and activities.

About The Role

As a personal support worker, you will directly be supporting our clients, who have acquired spinal cord injuries, with their daily tasks in our clients’ homes such as:

• Transfers in and out of bed and wheelchairs, using hoists when required.
• Grooming, bathing, dressing and dental hygiene.
• Personal care, including toileting, bladder and bowel management.
• Basic wound care and self-medication.
• Domestic support such as meal preparation, light household duties and laundry.
• Community access such as driving to appointments and social activities

Essential Skills And Qualifications

• Full training provided - Whilst experience in disability or aged care,regarded, is not a requirement for the role.
• A valid Driver's Licence and own reliable vehicle is required
• A smartphone device
• Hold, or willing to obtain, NDIS Workers Screening Card and Blue Card
• NDIS Workers Orientation Module
