Cultura's Commonwealth Residential Aged Care Facility in Geelong is seeking a Personal Carer. You will provide and document person-centred care, support with intimate care and hygiene, and encourage residents to stay independent and enjoy life.

Am & PM shifts, part-time and fixed-term opportunities available. You will work with Enrolled Nurse/Enrolled Nurse (Medication Endorsed) or Registered Nurse team leaders and report to the shift Charge Nurse through to the General Manager – Residential.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Aged Care or Individual Support.
• NDIS Worker Orientation Module: Quality, Safety and You.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation.
• Experience caring for elderly people in residential/community aged care.
• Willingness to work as part of a friendly team.

Responsabilités

• Providing support with personal hygiene including bathing, toileting, dressing.
• Engaging residents in activities and conversations.
• Performing basic housekeeping tasks: bed making, cleaning, laundry.
• Accompanying residents to medical appointments.
• Serving meals and assisting with feeding.
• Caring for pressure areas and mobility support.
• Maintaining a hygienic, safe living environment.
• Providing support and company to immobile or frail residents.
• Assisting with prescribed exercise routines.

Formation

Certificate III in Aged Care or Individual Support

Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module ‘Quality, Safety and You’

Basic computer skills

Experience caring for elderly people

Willingness to contribute as a team member to a friendly and warm living environment

The Personal Carer is a direct team member in Cultura’s Commonwealth Residential Aged Care Facility. Each shift, the personal carer may work with an Enrolled Nurse/Enrolled Nurse (Medication Endorsed) or Registered Nurse team leader and is responsible to the shift Charge Nurse through to the General Manager – Residential.
Personal carer duties include providing and documenting person-centered care, including support with intimate care and hygiene, as well as supporting and encouraging residents to remain independent and to enjoy life.

Am & PM shifts - Part-time & Fixed term employment opportunities are available.

Duties

• Providing support with personal hygiene including bathing, toileting, dressing and brushing teeth
• Engaging residents in suitable activities such as playing games, and having conversations
• Performing basic housekeeping duties, including bed making, cleaning and laundry
• Accompanying residents to medical appointments
• Serving meals and assisting with feeding
• Caring for pressure areas
• Providing mobility support, including assistance with walking aids, wheelchairs and hoist use
• Maintaining a hygienic, tidy and safe environment
• Providing immobile, recovering, or frail residents with support, company and comfort
• Assisting with exercise routines as prescribed.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

• Certificate III in Aged Care or Individual Support
• Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module ‘Quality, Safety and You’
• Basic computer skills, for example, keyboard skills/data entry
• Experience caring for elderly people, for example, in residential and/or community aged care setting or supported residential service
• Willingness to contribute as a team member to the creation and maintenance of a friendly and warm living environment for all Cultura residents.

Desirable

• Certificate IV in Aged Care or Individual Support
• Understanding of the migrant experience, with empathy and sensitivity to the needs of the elderly from different cultural backgrounds
• COVID19 vaccination within the last six months
• Languages other than English will be highly regarded.

Employment may be subject to the satisfactory completion of a Police Criminal Record Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check and Pre-Employment Health Declaration. Cultura will pay for the costs associated with these checks, after you have commenced working.
