Calvary Mt Carmel Retirement Community - Maitland is seeking a passionate Personal Care Worker for a casual role in Maitland, NSW. You will join an integrated team delivering high-quality care to residents, supporting personal care, mobility, and daily living activities under the guidance of a Registered Nurse.

To succeed you’ll hold a Certificate III in individual support, have an NDIS check, and demonstrate empathy, patience and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in individual support or equivalent recognised qualification (Essential).
• Current NDIS Check or willingness to obtain (Essential).
• Experience engaging with residents and dementia care.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Able to prioritise workloads and remain flexible.
• Respect for privacy, dignity and self-esteem.
• Commitment to quality improvement and WH&S.

Responsibilities

• Support residents to live the life they choose, promoting independence.
• Assess and observe to address physical, emotional and lifestyle needs.
• Implement care interventions as delegated by the Registered Nurse.
• Assist with personal care and hygiene, encouraging independence.

About The Role

The position of Personal Care Worker is part of an integrated team of people working within an established and agreed framework attending to the personal needs of residents. The Personal Care Worker role is instrumental to ensuring that we are providing high quality care to our residents at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Support residents to live the life they choose allowing them to exercise choice and independence.
• Contribute to the physical, emotional and lifestyle needs and wants of the residents, through assessment and observation.
• Implement clinical and care interventions as delegated by the Registered Nurse, and as documented in the resident’s plan of care.
• Assist the residents with their personal care and hygiene needs whilst encouraging their independence

About You

• Certificate III in individual support, or equivalent recognised qualification (Essential)
• Current NDIS Check or willingness to obtain (Essential)
• Ability to engage with residents and experience in dementia support
• Effective interpersonal communication; both written and verbal
• Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads
• Demonstrated flexibility, empathy and patience with the aged person and their needs
• Demonstrated ability to provide holistic care
• Demonstrated respect for residents’ privacy, dignity and self esteem
• Commitment to continuous quality improvement
• Working knowledge of WH&S and Infection Control
