Job summary

City Health Day Hospital in Victoria is seeking an experienced Perioperative Registered Nurse for a casual position in our theatre team. Based at Jolimont, you will work with surgeons, anaesthetists and nursing staff in a collaborative patient-focused environment.

We specialise in gynaecological and IVF surgery with plans to expand. The role demands clinical excellence, teamwork and a proactive approach in a fast-paced perioperative setting across Jolimont and Notting Hill.

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Perioperative nursing experience in Scrub/Scout and/or Anaesthetic/Recovery.
• Private hospital or day surgery experience is desirable.
• Postgraduate Certificate in Perioperative Nursing (or equivalent) is desirable.
• IV cannulation competency is desirable.
• ALS certification is desirable or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality patient care throughout the perioperative journey.
• Work within scope as Scrub/Scout and/or Anaesthetic/Recovery Nurse.
• Prepare and maintain theatre and recovery environments per best practice.
• Assist surgeons and anaesthetists during procedures ensuring patient safety.
• Deliver post-anaesthetic recovery care and discharge education.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and accreditation standards.
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative, patient-centred team culture.

About the role

City Health Day Hospital is seeking experienced and motivated Perioperative Registered Nurses to join our theatre team on a casual basis. Based at our modern Jolimont facility, you will work alongside experienced surgeons, anaesthetists and nursing staff in a collaborative and patient-focused environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a growing day hospital that currently specialises in gynaecological and IVF surgery, with plans to expand into additional surgical specialties. We are looking for nurses who are committed to clinical excellence and enjoy working in a supportive, fast-paced perioperative setting.

What you’ll do

As a Perioperative Registered Nurse, you will:

• Provide safe, high-quality patient care throughout the perioperative journey.
• Work within your scope of practice as a Scrub/Scout and/or Anaesthetic/Recovery Nurse.
• Prepare and maintain theatre and recovery environments in accordance with best practice.
• Assist surgeons and anaesthetists during procedures while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Deliver safe post-anaesthetic recovery care and discharge education.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and support accreditation standards.
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative and patient-centred team culture.

What we are looking for

The successful applicant will have:

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Demonstrated perioperative nursing experience in Scrub/Scout and/or Anaesthetic/Recovery.
• Previous experience in a private hospital or day surgery environment is highly desirable.
• A Postgraduate Certificate in Perioperative Nursing (or equivalent) is desirable.
• IV cannulation competency is desirable.
• Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification, or willingness to obtain.
• Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills.
• A strong commitment to patient safety, quality care and teamwork.
• Flexibility, reliability and a positive attitude.
