Job summary

ACT Day Hospital in Canberra is seeking an experienced Perioperative Anaesthetic nurse with PACU experience to support anaesthetic care, airway management, and postoperative recovery. You will work closely with anaesthetists, surgeons and the perioperative team to ensure patient safety and timely discharge.

The role requires current AHPRA registration, PACU experience, strong communication, teamwork, and a proactive approach in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Qualifications

• Registered with current AHPRA registration.
• Experience in Anaesthetic Nursing and PACU.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Immunisation compliance and NPC clearance.
• Valid working rights in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Support safe anaesthetic practice and airway management.
• Monitor patients and manage pain in perioperative care.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessment, planning, and evaluation.
• Ensure safe recovery and discharge criteria are met.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient education.

Designed to provide an exceptional patient experience, our modern facility features two fully equipped operating theatres, including an advanced Angio Suite, cutting-edge technology, and a highly experienced perioperative team committed to delivering outstanding clinical care. Surgical Specialities include Ophthalmology, Dental, Interventional pain procedures, minor general and IVF.

We are seeking an experienced Perioperative Anaesthetic nurse with also experience in Post-Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse to provide high-quality, evidence-based care to patients undergoing surgical and procedural interventions. Working closely with anaesthetists, surgeons and the multidisciplinary perioperative team, the role supports safe anaesthetic practice, airway management, patient monitoring, pain management and post-operative recovery. Responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care, ensuring patients safely meet recovery and discharge criteria. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to patient safety, accurate clinical documentation, patient education, continuous quality improvement and ongoing professional development within a supportive perioperative environment.

• A passion for creating positive change in patient outcomes
• Experience in Anaesthetic/ Recovery PACU Nursing is essential
• Enrolled nurse/ Registered nurse
• The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• The capacity to balance workload to ensure timely patient care
