Job summary

City of Canterbury Bankstown Council is seeking a permanent, full-time Team Leader Payroll to lead end-to-end payroll operations with accuracy, compliance and customer service.

You will head the Payroll team, shape policies, and drive improvements using HRIS tools such as SuccessFactors, SAP and Kronos, while supporting staff wellbeing and development. This role offers local government benefits and a clear career path.

Qualifications

• Experience leading end-to-end payroll within medium to large organisations.
• Strong knowledge of Award interpretation, superannuation, PAYG, STP and taxation.
• Experience using HRIS and payroll systems (SuccessFactors, SAP, Kronos).
• Ability to resolve complex payroll discrepancies and staff inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop the Payroll team; build capability and a positive environment.
• Oversee end-to-end payroll operations with accuracy, compliance and high-quality service.
• Develop and maintain payroll policies and procedures aligned with legislation and awards.
• Provide expert payroll and systems advice; coordinate reconciliations, audits and year-end processes.
• Drive continuous improvement across payroll systems, processes and service delivery.
